    Since its not a benzo is it legal in nz?

    Benzodiazepines have a benzene ring fused with a diazepine ring; in the case of etizolam, the benzene ring has been replaced by a thiophene ring. Etizolam is therefore a thienodiazepine and not a benzodiazepine; other thienodiazepines include brotizolam and clotiazepam"

    Synthetic Cannabis
    Brotizolam is scheduled substance in NZ, Etizolam is very similar to brotizolam in the fact it has an ethyl group that replaces the bromine radical brotizolam has.

    This means it will be class C under Misuse of drugs act, as anything substantially similar to a scheduled substance in MoDA is considered illegal.
