Herbal incense review: Tokearoa, Dust, Magic Dragon & Chimera

Okay, I got four different incense blends to try this week. So here are my impressions of them all, in a bit of a review roundup.

Tokearoa

Smell: Unusual fruity smell, perhaps a bit like space.
Consistency: Fairly random looking mostly crushed leafy matter (perhaps a little like dream).
Effect: Medium level high warm head high.
Taste: A strange fruity taste, not to my taste, but not horrible either. Base herb as usual, is not as tasty when you taste it.

Overall: Very similar to new space, so not bad, but not great either.

Magic Dragon

Dust and Magic Dragon are made by the same people. They are sold as collectors items, which is different.

Smell: Comes in a variety of yummy sounding flavors, this one is blackberry, and it does have a strong sweet blackberry smell, reminds me of purple powerade.
Consistency: Broken leaf style of consistency, few sticks (damiana base?).
Effect: Good strong effect. Some “dreamy”, some head high, and has warmth. Good balance I think.
Taste: Sweet and smooth, but not as sweet as the smell, quite mild actually. Very pleasant to burn. Base herb is actually tasty enough. Actual blueberry-ness is actually more like an aftertaste.

Overall: Pretty well rated smoke. Effect is not the strongest there is, but its strong enough, and the experience of smoking it is quite nice indeed.

Dust

Smell: Comes in a variety of yummy sounding flavors, this one is strawberry, and it has a very sweet strawberry smell.
Consistency: Fairly random looking mostly crushed leafy matter, but with some red color through it...
Effect: Warmer head high. Nice good strength too.
Taste: Very strawberry. Nice. Base herb is barely apparent. Very good - one of the most tasty I've tried.

Overall: Like both of these blends by the same company (They are very similar in strength and taste), a pleasure to smoke, and it is strong enough to enjoy.

Chimera

Smell: Smells like the sort of eucalyptus, spicy smell found in Dream and Zohai.
Consistency: Crushed leaf, much like the others.
Effect: Mild warm head high, perhaps around the strength of Aroma. Too mild for me.
Taste: Again, like the other two mentioned above in smell, tastes sort of spicy/eucalyptus-like.

Overall: Not only pretty mild, but also you go through it quickly (not much bang for buck). Worst of the four.
